Weight JAM wasn’t born simply to make money or to capitalize on an unmet demand. Rather, it was derived from personal experience. It all started with one of the program's co-authors trip to the Drs. office. After various questions and tests, the Dr. confirmed a diagnosis of prediabetes and high blood pressure. And in a very diplomatic way, it was also stated that the patient was overweight by what was estimated to be approximately 30-35 pounds. Coupled with a prescription to address the high blood pressure, the physician also strongly suggested that in order to maintain future good-health, weight loss was in order. And that is where it got both confusing and interesting.
It was obvious that the Dr. was overweight. He even joked about his own inability to shed the unwanted pounds. Take a minute and think about the absurdity of this interaction. If the physician, who obviously knew the risks of being overweight, couldn’t achieve sustained weight loss, then how could anyone else be expected to?
Now in defense of the Dr., at checkout, his nurse did provide a free brochure titled, “Understanding The Risks Of Obesity”. And on page 3 of the 4 page brochure it did suggest that if you are overweight, you should make smart food choices and get routine exercise. Wow-what a nonspecific revelation!
So that is the point at which our team was assembled to research and undertake the task of creating a program and guide that would help with a genuine and realistic way to lose and keep off unwanted weight. At the same time we would seek to clarify the myriad myths and misconceptions related to weight gain and weight loss. And it would not be an easy undertaking.
When we first started the Weight JAM research, we were unaware of just how many programs, books, guides and professed quick fixes were out there. The answer is thousands. So it is no wonder that the average person can easily be confused by the overabundance of information and purported solutions.
We are not going to pass judgment on what any of our participants may have attempted in the past. And we do recognize that some of the scores of weight loss programs and fads may have yielded satisfying and lasting results for a small portion of people. But the data doesn’t lie in the fact that most people who have tried these weight loss programs have ended up giving up or gaining back some or all of the weight they had lost.
Yet people continue to seek out weight loss programs in hopes of success. They get lured in by slick advertising and promises that make them subconsciously believe they can look just like one of the sculpted models that they see prominently featured in these misleading campaigns. And the ever present testimonials are designed to add support to the concept.
So after 5 years and thousands of hours of exhaustive research and development, we introduced the Weight JAM Program. And as a side note, the 30-35 pound weight loss the Dr, suggested is gone and has not returned. And that is our story and how Weight JAM came to be!
